Evinrude I-Dock

Hello everybody, l am new to this site. Thank you for having me.
I got a question and would like to know your opinion.
I bought an Striper 290wa 2016 just a couple of month ago with two outboards motors Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 hp. I'm thinking to put the Evinrude I-Dock on it. Would like to know any opinions, sugestions about it? How much are the costs for the complete procedure?
If anybody could help me, l would really appreciate it.
Thanks. Shasky

Re: Evinrude I-Dock

You should  discuss this with your dealer as the iDock is an expensive and complicated system to install.  It is recommended for boat builder installations on new rigs as special engine models are available for the  joystick iDock accessory.

The following is from a service publication concerning installations on existing units.

When installing the i-Dock steering system with Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboards, verify all outboards are
non-DPS, or IHS configuration. If they are not, convert them using DPS to IHS Conversion Kit,
P/N 5010186. Order one conversion kit for each outboard.
ONLY authorized servicing dealers may perform this conversion

***************

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.
