I am seriously considering the purchase of a boat with twin 2008 E-Tec 150s with approx. 375 hrs on them.I will have the boat surveyed before purchase but what things should I be looking for on these motors? Are there any known issues these particular motors are known for? I do not have serial numbers etc at this point but just wanted to get an idea of what to look out for.
Thank You for your help.
It is advisable to have an Evinrude E-TEC technician do a thorough examination of the motors including the boat's fuel system and electrical system. The tech also should check for applicable updates, sevrvice bulletins, and software updates that may be suggested. Be sure to ask for an engine history printout which shows how the motors were operated, any stored error codes, and the engine hours. Today's low-emission high-tech engines record a lot of information inside their onboard computers.
