Coil /power pacs

I purchased new 2016 60 hp e-tec. I year had to replace two power pacs. Warrantyr repairs yes. Any ideas why the failures? Anyone else having this issue?

Re: Coil /power pacs

Are there lockwashers and stainless steel hex nuts fastening your battery cables or are there wing nuts holding them on ?

Has the motor had any overheating issues?

EMM problems are pretty rare. What did the motor do before the failures and what type of failure was it?

Any chance of posting a recent engine report from your dealer?

What kind of boat and what type of boating do you do? Are there any unusual electrical items on the boat?

Re: Coil /power pacs

Waiting for new coil to be delivered. Motor is 2016 60 hp e-tec with 34 hrs.  16 ft carolnia skiff JVX. Added music radio and gps unit. Used moderatley for fishing. 1st coil  burn out @ 18 hrs. All connections are tight and clean ( nuts not wings). Both times I heard muffled pre-ignition and then rough running to slow and.stall. No warning horn or high temp alarm. Starting engine runs rough and stalls. Dealer said coil looks disfigured. I live in Florida presently, the boat was purchased and repaired in N.J. for the first repair.

Where in Florida are you located?

You mentioned earlier that you had two power packs replaced, which we assumed to mean EMM units.

Now you mention coils.

Is the GPS and stereo wired  through the keyswitch or are they powered on the dash with an accessory switch. If connected to your motor, it would be best to have them powered independently

South Fort Myers near Sanibel. Gps and stereo wired to access. In console. Just waiting for coil and then I'll talk with tech.

With that type of engine history, send an email to brp.care@brp.com  with the engine serial number and your contact information.
