08 200ho e-tec mutiple faults wiring or EMM

Hi ,bought a used 200ho knowing it was in SAFE mode ,245 hrs. Got dianostic package with 5,8.8.1 installed .Reflashed EMM still Got 20 faults. Replaced TPS as it always popped up first,Compression good,spark good wiring looked good stator passed resistance test, capasitor  charged up on vom. wondering where to go next Thanks  Jack

Fault code 78 is the cause for all of the other faults.  Code 78 means that the analog 5V supply (in the EMM) is outside it's design limits.  This results in all the sensors that use this analog 5V supply to read out of spec as well.  Actually, most of them are probably OK though.

 

Use a VOM to read the analog 5V.  It should be nearly exactly 5.00 volts.  It is probably very low in voltage or even zero.  Disconnect all sensors which use the analog 5V one at a time ans see if the remaining sensors begin to function correctly at some point.  Pinched/chafed +5V wire in the harness is a real possibility too.

 

Analog +5V is quite well protected within EMM.  Not likely it is damaged internally.
