250 etec 2012 will idle but will not get on plain

Motor will start and idle, when you put in gear and give it gas it will not respond, sound smothered, when power on all check lights come on, then go out one at a time, start engine 2-4 sec later all lights come back on, 2-4 sec later all go out at same time. Have heard TPS or CPS. How can I check them without a computer program

If the warning lights cycle a second time, you may have a weak battery, loose connection, or an intermittent break in the 12 volt circuit. The System Check will reset if the voltage drops below about 9.4 volts.

If the throttle is advanced, even a little bit, the motor will not accelerate. Make sure the engine is at dead idle, do not touch the throttle, when you start it.

I found a lose battery connection Hooked up water and it starts great and will take throttle at idle and in gear...I heard that the cam shaft positioning sensor will not let it take fuel. Then when it cools off it will work fine till it get hot again or goes completely out . ?????

Also the warning lights didn't come back on the 2nd time like before. Going to run it this afternoon and see if the battery cable was it

There is no cam shaft or cam shaft sensor in an Evinrude E-TEC or E-TEC G2 outboard motor.

[ Edited ]

The crankshaft position sensor sends the flywheel rotation signal to the EMM as soon as the starter engages and begins to crank over the motor.  It also informs the EMM of the flywheel position for ignition and fuel injecting timing for starting and running If you crank the motor and it will not start, look at your tach for a reading.  If the sensor fails while the motor is running, the motor stops instantly.

Ask your dealer to reference service bulletin No. 2014-01(W) Revision A to see if your motor may be within a certain serial number range.
