Good afternoon everyone..
so I finally got out on the water with my new 300 Etec... I have 3 small Icon gauges and a larger one set up FBW throttle that was installed by the dealr ( certified evnirude dealer ). when I am running for about 2 minutes 4000-5300 rpms all the gauges flicker on and off and then suddenly the engine loses all power, it wont go in eith direction until I turn it off then restart again. It has run longer at times without powering down but more often than not its after 2 minutes that it happens.. Engine has only 3 hrs... any ideas what is causing this ???
We are sorry to hear that you have an unwelcome experience with your new Evinrude outboard. That is not normal and should be easily rectified.
It sounds like there is an intermittent wiring connection or key switch issue somewhere in the electrical circuits. See your dealer for assistance.

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.
The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.
