Consumer Software?

At one time there was a rumor that Evinrude was releasing a consumer version of the software to interface with the motor.  Any update?

 

Would love to be able to do some stuff without having to leave it at the dealer for 2 weeks to make a 15 minute software update that costs 1 hour of labor ($110).  Set trim settings, add water pressure sensor, get report...

Years ago there was talk at Evinrude to provide an information only type of software for an owner to see an engine report and to keep a record during the life of the motor. 

A few years ago an independent company started to develop a consumer software package for the FICHT, DI, and first-generation E-TEC engines but there hasn't been any further information on that project for over a year.

Professional diagnostic software for repair shops is currently produced by several companies such as CDI Electronics but those packages cost over $1000 and are made to be adapted to other makes of outboards also.

Evinrude does not recommend their software to be sold to the public because of the possibility that an untrained person could cause severe damage to their outboard by changing critical settings and adjustments.

Upgrading the EMM software [correctly called firmware] on an Evinrude E-TEC is only available at the dealer level plus an additional harness is needed.
