Looking at used 2017 50hp etec. Great price owner says he doesn't like it and just wants to get rid of it... I have trust issues. Runs ok, looks OK.
If I bring this to a dealer, and hook it up to the computer, would the diagnostics tell if it was ever submerged?
Is there any way to tell it sunk?
Any ideas? Advice?
look for rust and corrosion buildup under the flywheel and in the stator. If a good tech washed the motor off, cleaned it up, and got it running right away, you would probably never know that it was submerged.
