[ Edited ]

Could use some help to determine what year this motor is.  No data plate.  Thanks!

Remove the cover and inspect the powerhead for a 1" silver disk with numbers tamped on it and post them here

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Perfect, thanks!

8183925 is what I found. There was a little hash mark or something before the first 8 but definitely not a number.

Believe it is a 1990 Evinrude commercial series  V6 engine!

Re: What year is this 155HP?

Is that based on the number I provided?  I assume it's a good thing?  I read they come with the higher horsepower lower unit and some other upgrades?

Re: What year is this 155HP?

Not based on the number you provided I was going by the paint ant trim. Yes they had larger gear cases stainless steel in some areas and lower compression so they could burn low octane fuel!

Different gear set and housing for HD commercial use. Not so much for higher HP but for HD use. Commercial version of the 150 HP other than that. Compression the same as all crossflows except the GT and XP series. (bathtub heads and same part numbers)
