Buying a ranger 1880 angler that is rated for up to 175HP but I may go with the 150 HO.heard they are basically same but the 150HO might be alittle better.for speed are they about the same?
The difference speed varies with the boat. The Evinrude E-TEC 150 HO may be a bit faster on a well-designed boat as it has the high-speed gearcase that can be run at a higher transom height.

I have an 1880 Angler with a 150 HO. Pleased with performance....48+ with light load 46+ with heavy load at top end. Great hole shot as I do ski as well. Fuel efficient. I was told 175 would get me 1-2 on the top end but little else on this hull. I really didn't want to spend the extra $ for a white motor so I went with the 150 HO.
Running 17P 4 blade. I was under impression that M2 gearcase was on both with the 25' shaft - so not sure there is a difference in lower units.
