Flushing Port 225 ETEC

My engine came from the factory with a directional spray nozzle screwed into the flushing/tell tale port that shoots a stream of water out, same as my 1995 Ocean Runner had, I have noticed that many other Etecs don't have this and the water just dribbles or pours straight out the back of the engine. Does this restrict or negatively effect the water flow for cooling, and also is it needed. The reason why I ask is because I keep the boat docked in the water and flush my engine after every use, it is awkward to reach around the engine from the boat side to unscrew that nozzle each time I want to hook up the hose, not to mention it is only a matter of time before I end up dropping it in the water.

Re: Flushing Port 225 ETEC

On your engine you can install the optional quick-disconnect flushing adapter that stays on your motor. You then just push the hose coupler piece onto the flushing adapter and turn the water on. Ask your dealer for the #775385 Quick-Connect flusher kit.

On the other style are larger diameter water tell-tale outlets, those are on 60° V4 and V6 models (200 hp and smaller) along with the 2 and 3 cylinder inline motors. Those have a different cooling system and use a high flow, low pressure tell-tale.

That's the same quick connect flush kit I had on my 200 oceanrunner, I wasn't sure it I could use it on this new engine because the spray nozzle on this engine was different, it seats deeper into the engine and has two o-rings on it. So I can just remove the nozzle and screw in the flush port?

It depends on model number of your motor or if the muffler was replaced as there was a recent change in the plumbiing.

That is why we need model numbers when tech questions are asked.  The 225 HP E-TEC has been around for 14 years and has changes over time.

My model number is E225DPXABG. Can the quick connect flusher you suggested above be used with this engine.
