2005 etec 200hp shutdown with no alarms

I was running my etec the other day and I got it up to 5500rpm and it was running slower than it usually does... then it shutdown all of a sudden and wouldn’t start again... the next day I tried starting it and it fired right up??? Not sure what this is, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.

A loss of fuel pressure, an faulty crankshaft postion sensor, or an electrical problem could cause a rapid shutdown of the motor. Troubleshooting your motor means determining which system is at fault.
What a loss of power that you described could mean one or more fuel injectors  acting up.

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Could it be a plug out of spec or not facing the injector enough

Either of those issues would not cause a 200 HP to shut down suddenly.
