Have just purchased a new 90 ETEC for my Boston Whaler Montauk. Previously had a 90 Johnson with a 13 x 19 pitch prop. Tried the same pitch of prop on the ETEC and WOT was 4100 rpm. The dealer substitued a 13 x 17 and the rpms increased to 4600, still below the desired range. Bottom is clean, 15 gallons of fuel, 200 # driver, and highly trimmed. Do I keep cutting pitch, verify if the tachometer is accurate, or ?? Jim Bryan Bayfield, WI

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor.
