Re: Name plate missing where else is engine serial number on the 152 stroke Evinrude possibly 1998

[ Edited ]

I understand that finding the number and model took a lot of digging, but the department came through. Engines with serial numbers above this one are 1995 models.  Is the wiring harness connector between the boat wiring and the engine wiring a large round red plug or are there 3 connectors that hook up?

G3982048 is a  E50TLED  -  1996

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Good, that also proves that it is a 1996

Need help, G3254627 , I was told it was a Johnson 140 hp. Trying to buy parts but can’t determine the year of the engine.

That is an older serial number I believe. What is the model number on the serial number plate on the stern bracket?

Can you post pictures of the motor cover decals if original and the sides and back of the motor without the cover?

The entire engine has been painted over “all black”. You can see the outline of the serial number plate but it’s not readable. The only numbers I was able to find were “G3254627” on the silver or aluminum disc on the block and 339154 on the spark plug covers

You have to use a photo software program to resize the pictures to 800 x 600 pixels

If the metal serial number plate is painted over, then perhaps wiping with paint remover or laquer thinner may make it readable again
