Look for a silver disc about 1" in diameter on the engine block.

If the motor cover decals are origiinal, we may be able to narrow down the year for you with several side and back photos of the cover and of the whole motor

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Can you post pictures of the motor cover with the original decals, if possible, along with pictures of the cover removed to see the powerhead from every side and a side view of the whole motor.

The H in your number could mean a Hong Kong factory built motor which could be different in some ways to the American/Canadian model.

What is the last digit of the serial number? It looks like a 3 but I'm not sure.

In compliance with the Wisconsin governor's declaration, Evinrude is closed down until at least the end of the month, but we will see what can be done about the serial number.
