I am in the process of repowering from a 1999 Evinnrude Ficht 225 and am looking at a 2016 E Tec 200 HO. still in
the box, new. My local dealer said that I can use all my old controls etc. and that I qualify for a 7 year, 4+3 warranty.
Any input or advise is welcomed.
Also where would be the best place to reach the most people interested in buying the old engine to part out?
What is the model number on the 200 HO? If it is a G2 engine, you cannot use your controls or gauges unless you buy expensive converters for each. A G1 model will bolt right up, but make sure the electrical cables and control cables and box are in good shape first as they are around 20 years old now.
The outboard industry has not used yearly designations for quite a few years now, only model numbers for identification.

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.
The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.
