Using single g2 without DPS

Looking for a little help here. I recently purchased a used 2016 g2 225ho counter rotation motor to use as a single for my 20’ fiberglass Starcraft. The mechanic was mounting the motor and noticed it lacked the Dynamic Power Steering. The motor was originally purchased as a twin. He contacted evinrude but I haven’t heard back.

If anyone could help answer the following questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Can I run it without DPS?

What would be the affects of not having dps?

Can I add DPS? Cost?

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

Counter rotation engines we're not manufactured with DPS. They are designed to be installed in twin engine applications where the standard rotation engine has DPS and steers the CR engine through a mechanical tie bar. On catamaran hulls a "liquid tie bar" is used which uses hydraulic hoses to link the two engines.
There is one integrated hydraulic (non-DPS) standard rotation engine produced for the bass boat market presumably to give a stiffer steering feel at high speed.
As a tech I have not seen anything published by Evinrude about connecting the hoses of a standard hydraulic helm directly to a CR engine. Since a CR engine can be steered through a liquid tie bar one can assume that you could connect standard hydraulic hoses and have standard steering.
