Winter Steelhead Fishing

Float fishing using a tiny 1/32 ounce jig at the terminal end baited with a wax worm is one of the most deadly ways of targeting steelhead in the winter. Special fishing lines are made from coated braids that float, don't absorb water so the resist icing up and the coating makes it easier to see the line and also to mend line as the float drifts downstream. Slower moving and deeper pools in the river are the ideal places to put this presentation into practice. The rewards are many, but targeting monster steelhead in winter can quickly get in an angler's blood._DSC0010.jpg
