1967 Fastwin 18 hp evinrude

I was curious as to the proper oil to gas mix to the old gal. I have a 6 gallon metal evinrude tank. Can't out the proper mix, but I also have a Johnson 6 gal tank that says 1 Qt. to 6gal. Please help. Trying to get it in the water after 12 years.

Thanks, Bill

That gas tank is much older than your motor. Ever since 1964, Johnsons and Evinrudes use a 50:1 fuel-oil mix - one pint of TC-W3 oil  to 6 gallons of gas.

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

The Evinrude 18 was built for a long time and got its roots from the earlier 15hp and then eventually evolved to the 25 in later years.
