1998 Evinrude 115ELECM

I just recently purchased a boat with this 115evinrude and took it out on lake for 10-15min and everything ran perfect. Idle, wide open etc. did the same thing yesterday fishing. Then shortly after 10-15 min, maybe once everything got warm it began to spit, sputter, missfire, just run terrible. Today I put 4 brand new plugs in, took it on lake ran jus fine for 15-20 minutes, then all the sudden started doing the same thing. Coil pack? Stater? Any ideas.?

First you have to determine if it is a fuel problem, a mechanical problem, or an ignition problem.

If you intend to do your own troubleshooting, obtain the factory service manual through  www.outboardbooks.com  and purchase the appropriate specialized tools.

It may be quicker and less expensive to have a trained technician check out your motor

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Okay so to eliminate fuel can I bring in separate gas tank premixed and hook fuel line to that tank and run boat, even if the motor is oil injected as well?

That would eliminate anything wrong with the boat's fuel system but you would still need to check out the engine's fuel and ignition systems if the external tank hookup did not cure the problem.
