2006 E Tec 225 Fuel sensor

Hello All..newbie here. Forgive me if this has been covered but I recently bought a used Grady White with a 2006 225 Etec on the back. Motor has been great so far but I decided to do some regular maintennance....water pump.....seals...gaskets....spark plugs and filters. It looks like I damaged the water sensor in the fuel filter mounted on the motor and the alarm is going off. One of the filaments was badly bent and I can't seem to repair it.

The part number is 5011074 and I am calling all over the place and it is unavailable and even Evinrude can't tell me where to get one or when they may be available.

Does anyone know where I can get one?

Secondly.....can anyone tell me if I will do any damage by running with the sensor disabled? It is pretty clear that the sensor is damaged and sending a faulty reading.

Thanks all.

Re: 2006 E Tec 225 Fuel sensor

With the sensor unplugged you may gat a warning and go into s.a.f.e. mode.
The part number you gave shows as backordered with no newer part number.
Unless there is something different about you 2006 model that is different there are new part numbers for filter base, sensor, and filter assembly. 5009802 and the latest 5011097

Thanks Rick for your time but one of those numbers is for a matched gearset and the other is not for my engine.

Re: 2006 E Tec 225 Fuel sensor

Sorry for the typo should have been 5009902.
But there may be something different on the 06 models which require #5011074. That may have been the aluminum base.
Anyway the StockPro systems that 2 dealers have it in stock, both in New York

In my catalogue 2006 225 HP. the part number for housing and filter is 5005953. Available here in Australia. 4 available, then superseded to 5011074.

Re: 2006 E Tec 225 Fuel sensor

If the water in ful sensor is disconnected, there should be no warnings or fault codes.  However, you will no longer have the said warning to identify water in the canister.

If you have a fault with the sensor disconnected, there is a lead wire shorted to ground or damage to a related component within the EMM.
