2015 G2 Water pump

Need some advise.

I hit a sandbar and pick up some sand to my engine.

It ran fine for 30 mins after, but next day I took the boat out on fishing, I was getting temperature alarm.

at 35 mph my temperature is running at 180 degrees (f) and anything over that speed temperature will rise to 192 plus.

I am thinking I mess up water pump.

local dealer is about 3 week behind, and I was thinking about changing water pump myself.

any suggestion would help.

Thanks in advance.

Your engine is not like traditional motors for servicing procedures. It would be best to have a dealer perform the service, especially while under warranty.

There are also screens onboard that could be affecting the water flow if restricted by any sand that got sucked up into the motor.

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Would it cover by warranty?

Not for running in sand.

It is possible that there may be a different culprit than the pump or sand buildup inside the motor, if so, chances are that would be warranty if not self-inflicted.
