2017 etec 250 alarm code Loss Sync Emmo, 016

Anyone know if the alarm code: Loss Sync Emmo, 016 is the crankshaft sensor? If so any suggestions on how to check it?

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

An inspection of the connectors and wiring of the CPS would be in order but be aware that a correct resistance reading of the item does not mean it is always operational.

There was a bulletin before your motor was built about some that were intermittent but your serial number is beyond the problem ones. If you ever had a CPS replaced already, it could be possible that an affected one was in the dealer's stock at the time and installed on your motor.

You could remove the CPS and have your dealer look at the date code and compare it to the chart on service bulletin 2014-01(W) Revision A.
