Unless I missed it Evinrude just has a video of the G2 winterization process on their website. Is there one for the G1 with Icon Pro gauges?
Have read the manuals etc but still not 100% sure about:
-toggling through the tach menu to get to 'winterization,' and;
-is it best to use the rear flush port or the muffs / tape due to the engine reving during the winterization?
Is this Youtube video accurate?
So I hooked the rear port to running fresh water.
Scrolled thru the menus and found 'Winterize.'
Started the engine.
I chose 'Yes.'
The readout says 'Advance Throttle to 50%.'
I press in the center button on the binnacle throttle lever and advance the throttle lever.
It always just goes to 'winterization aborted'.
So what I am doing wrong? How high is the engine supposed to rev? Maybe I'm not revving it high enough for the process to start? Just concerned as I thought you weren't supposed to rev the engine too high when you have water running into the rear.

So have tried it again, step by step as per the ICON PRO manual.
I started the engine with the water running into the rear port.
I get to the 'Perform Winterize?'
I press Yes.
It never displays, 'RECEIVING DATA TO START THE PROCESS' but jumps right to 'ADVANCE THROTTLE to 50%.'
I push in the center neutral button and have advanced it to 50% and on other ocassions even to a bit higher where the engine begins to rev up.
It never displays,'WINTERIZE IN PROGRESS.'
It always just goes to 'winterizing aborted.'

Sorry for all the emails...
So here is the latest.
I turned the key to accessory and let the ICON gauges go through their self-check.
Then I pushed in the idle button and advanced the throttle to 50%.
Went thru the menus to 'Winterize.'
Started the engine.
The screen showed 'Winterization in Progress.'
Then I got a low oil alert. So shut it off.
Tried the process again and the engine ran in the 'Winterization in Progress' mode for about 40 seconds and shut off. Then the screen showed 'TPS out of snyc - or something like that I guess because the throttle was advanced?
Anyway, is the winterization complete or is something still wrong here?
I never got a 'winterization complete' screen etc...
Al my guess is that the process is slightly off. Did you check you tube. I think you have to move the throttle forward first before anything else.
