I have tried several different props ranging from a 4 blade 19 to a 4 blade 20 to a 3 blade 22. Each of these props regardless of load run my motor at 5200rpm at wot and trimmed out. With my 18’ triton most people are running a 23 pitch tempest at 5800 rpm. Any ideas on why I seem to be limited on rpms? I have had a diagnostic run and it would certainly appear that my tachometer is right on the money correct. I have thrown no codes and the motor runs like a top from 500 rpm all the way to 5200. My cavitation plate is clearly visible while the boat is on plane. Any ideas???
Thank you for your suggestion. I have owned several boats in my time but this is my first etec. Normally I would agree with you whole heartedly, but this is not a prop issue. I have run a 20” and a 19” 4 blade and other than a blistering whole shot with the 19” prop I can see no tachometer difference at wot. I also have a great hole shot with my 3 blade 22” and you wouldn’t be able to tell one bit of difference on the tach at wot. I know 3 other people running 23” 3 blades on this exact same boat (similarly loaded) and turning 5800rpm. This has got to be some sort of emm, tps or rev limiter issue. This motor simply hits a brick wall at 5200. It will actually get to 5200 like it has rocket fuel in it
