Evinrude 115 vs Evinrude 115 HO (2016 build)

Can anyone tell me what the advantage is of the HO over the normally aspired 115 Evinrude.

Evinrude has changed the gear ratio from an advertised 2.44 V6 15 spline  end to a 2.36 V4 13 spline.  So over the non HO 115 getting a pretty good drop in gear ratio so I will need to increase pitch to get to Max RPMs.

Just wondering what decision points between the Evnrude 115 and Evinrude 115 HO should be considered.

Just so you know the documentation on the Evnrude site is not correct on the lower end gear ratio and splines for the HO and neither is the brochure which list the HO still having a 2:1 gear ratio.

The HO version is tuned for maximum performance compared to the standard Evinrude E-TEC 115 HP. The horsepower is close to the 10% limit that the marine industry agreed on.

It is designed for smaller bass boats, flats boats, and sport boats. It also allows a more powerful engine on waters restricted to 115 HP limits.

Ok.  But with the lower end changing this year.  What is the advantage with the ratio changing to a 2.36 gear ratio instead of previous years with teh 2.0 lower gear ratio?

For a better selection of propellers when the motor is mounted on different style boats. It can now use a more efficient higher-pitch prop compared to choosing one for a 2:1 gearcase.
