I have 2018 G2 225s on a 26' Cape Horn - love the engines, but the port one issued a Code 180 yesterday at WOT. Based on a prior thread, I checked the caps on the top of the engine and, sure enough, the second cap was missing. Checked the starboard engine as well and the second cap was in place, where it was supposed to be.
Returning to the port engine, I felt around the space beneath the top level cap but could not locate the missing second cap. So, my question is whether I can access the space into which that cap #2 has likely migrated by removing one of the side panels, if so which? Or, am I headed to the dealer who installed the engines for what sounds like it should be a fairly simple fix?

Often a pair of mechanical fingers can reach in and grab the plastic cover plug from the throttle body. If not, then you have to take part of the motor apart for access.
The engine installer is likely at fault for not securing the cover correctly and should take care of this for you.

Could not see cap #2 after removing side panels. So took to dealer who used $40 Depstech wifi endoscope to locate and fish out cap with mechanical fingers thusavoiding more involved disassembly. Ordered my endoscope today - thanks for the help in resolving problem.
In trying to find cap before taking to dealer, i noted that the gaskets around the openings once the panels were removed were deformed in several places. Has anyone had an issue with those gaskets? They look kind of flimsy for the task they are intended to perform.

The cap coming off does not cause a problem. Where the cap ends up may cause a problem. When the cap winds up in the throttle body, it often causes restricted movement of the throttle plate which is a problem
