It should be pointed out that the posted MSRP prices are similar to "window sticker prices" on new cars and trucks. Nobody pays the asking price !

Boats and motors, as are houses, vehicles, and other high priced items, are purchased after negotiating with the sellers.

"There is never just one thing wrong with a boat";
                    -- Travis McGee, main character in a book series by John D. McDonald

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Thanks for your comment regarding pricing for the G2's.  I am also a member of both boards.  I own a 2007 ETEC 250 that I love.  Knowing that I would probably need to repower in another 18 to 24 months - I have been looking at the information on the G2's that is available thus far.  I will admit, that when I read the pricing combined with the custom panel prices - I was a bit taken aback.  Compared to the G1 250 prices at my local dealer - I was calculating about a 10k difference in pricing.

In any case, I have increased my monthly contribution to the repower account in the hopes of planting a new ETEC G2 on the back of my center console.  Down in Louisiana, where almost everything is either Black Mercs or Grey Yam's, I would love to show up with the first G2 in the Rigolets, Cocodrie and Venice just to give them something to envy.

I'll catch the fish - Evinrude will get me there!!  My motto.
