Warranty Service

What if the only authorized dealer within 350 miles cannot perform warranty work within a year, and after that your warranty expires? I'm at the bottom of their list of 90, last year I was at 30 and it took two months to get in. They only work on boats during the summer months. Is there an evinrude 'policy' that warranty work moves you up the list? Any other ideas that could move me up the list?

***************

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.

Re: Warranty Service

I have been using the same dealer since 1988. When I have an issue they jump on it immidiately. I had my power head replaced 2 times within a week. You cannot expect  to get prompt service if you did not buy your engine from that dealer. You are just a number. A year waiting period is slightly over the top.
