Won’t start

After successful sea trials after commissioning for the season, the next day, one of the two engines would not start. A jump started it. The batteries are less than a year old, and lightly used. Alternator putting out. Next day, all was well. Day after, again, no start, and again a jump fixed it, but it took more effort (larger battery). Any ideas?

Re: Won’t start

Check your battery connections. Tight is not good enough. You have to remove connectors to make sure they are clean, best to use a wire brush on connectors and battery post. It is possible that a one year old battery can go bad and not hold a charge, the battery should be load tested after sitting overnight. Also check to see if an accessory or automatic bilge pump is connected to that battery.
