what prop should i get ?

MY 1999 AQUASPORT 245 TM OSPREY (25' OFFSHORE CENTER COUNCIL FISH BOAT) IS AT THE DEALER AWAITING INSTALL OF A  NEW I-CON  E-TECH 300. I NEED TO PICK A PROP AND WOULD LIKE A RECOMMENDATION. I THINK I'VE NARROWED IT DOWN TO EITHER A CYCLONE TBX (4 BLADE) OR A REBEL TBX (3 BLADE). WHICH MODEL  AND  WHAT DIAMETER AND PITCH WOULD BE BEST FOR MY BOAT?

THANKS

Re: what prop should i get ?

Propping a boat is a trial and error effort so unless the dealer is familiar with rigs such as yours, I'd start with a 19" Rebel or Cyclone and adjust up or down 1 or 2" of pitch if needed. Your 300 should be propped with a normal load of fuel, people, and gear in the area of 5500 to 5850 for all around performance and for a heavy offshore boat like yours, stick to the upper rpm.

The factory recommends that a properly trained technician service your Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor. Should you elect to perform repairs yourself, use caution, common sense, and observe safety procedures in the vicinity of flammable liquids, around moving parts, near high-temperature components, and working with electrical or ignition systems.

The information offered here is only general in nature and should not be construed as complete factory approved procedures, techniques, or specifications. Always use the proper service manual for your motor, up-to-date service literature, the correct tools, and have an understanding of how to proceed with troubleshooting and repair methods. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with a procedure, a situation, or a technique, enlist the services of a factory trained technician.
