Just venting while sitting by the fire tonight as I felt this community would understand. Been self teaching myself to flyfish for about 8 months. Just caught my first (small) trout today. The adrenaline that shot through me was a primal experience. I think I'm most proud that I've taught myself to do this as I didn't have a father who took much interest in me to teach me to fish, etc. It feels good to be a 39 year old self taught fly angler. The confidence instilled with the first catch is exhilarating.
