Fished the Sekiu Salmon Derby this past weekend. Derby was small about 130 anglers fished it but they all had a good time.
Fun time, lots of small coho 6-9 pounds just east of Sekiu in 500-600ft of water. We caught most of our fish on Fish Flash and herring. The best bite was early AM and it slowed after about 10:30. Best fishing was 45-90ft on the downriggers. I was the guest host at the awards ceremony. Salt Patrol also took 3rd place in the chinook division.
Sekiu stays open until the end of the month if you want a last shot at coho.
